In 2004 the Oportunidades Program appointed INSP and CIESAS to coordinate the evaluation of the impact of its diverse components. The evaluation required studies to be performed based on quantitative methods (coordinated by INSP), as well as qualitative approaches (coordinated mostly by CIESAS).

The documents included herein are part of the evaluation of the impacts of Oportunidades over a mid-term period for rural areas and over a short-term period in urban areas. These documents describe the different impacts of the Program in the main areas of interest: health, education, nutrition, and others. These studies used data from the qualitative evaluation works (particularly study cases), as well as different panel surveys specifically designed to assess the program.
